Friends, family and fellow creatives
I have been invited to participate in the Drawing Research Residency at DRAWinternational, Caylus and L’AiR ARTS, Paris from February 20th until April 12th, 2019. It is an in incredible opportunity that will involve a full month of creative practice and art production, followed by a 2 week program of research, exploration and reflection, as well as inclusion in a curated group show at the FIAP Jean Monnet in Paris.
But not all the best things in life are free, and the residency is not fully funded. As a South African artist, the exchange rate makes a hard task near-impossible and so I’m reaching out to you - my community - to ask for support. In return, I will be offering 3 series of prints made using analogue techniques (i.e. woodcut, etching, screenprint, to be confirmed) based on the work made during my time in France. In line with your contribution, you will receive a signed print, structured as follows*:
R50 - small (+/- 10x10cm)
R200 - medium (+/- A5)
R500 - large (+/- A4)
Please note: if you would like to contribute more than R500, you are of course welcome to do so. If you make a contribution of R1000 or more, you will receive one of each of the 3 prints.
In addition, all contributors' names will be automatically entered into lucky draw to win an original artwork produced over the course of the residency (1 entry for every R50 contributed).
Amanda Palmer suggests that “asking for help with gratitude says: We have the power to help each other,“ and so - with much gratitude - this is my way of asking you to help make this opportunity possible.
